Gianvito Rossi dupes might be one of those dupes that you didn’t know you already owned. The plexi trend, originally started by Kanye West’s Yeezy line, has been so in for the past few seasons that we see imitations of all transparent designer items on the high street at most times.
Speaking from personal experience, I actually own two pairs of Gianvito Rossi dupes and I wasn’t even aware that they were dupes when I bought them – I needed some cheap shoes for a night out and went to my local Primark (the UK version of Target) to see if I could find something appealing for a minimal price, and there they were!
And Primark isn’t the only place where you can grab a similar pair to the $500 designer item – shops like Zara, Topshop and Pretty Little Thing have all had their versions of the shoe that come and go.

The fact that high street retailers have been able to produce these shoes in masses might be a concern to the designer, but not to us as customers (at least I rejoice over the idea of saving some cash!). Although the design of the shoe is very distinguishable and unique, it doesn’t have any trademark protected design elements or logos on it, so at the end of the day, it’s just a shoe.
Because of this, it’s quite easy to find nearly identical dupes for this great party heel. In fact, a quick Google search left me with 13 different dupes that look as amazing as the original for as little as a tenth of the original price.
So, if you’re looking for a classic, chic and elegant shoe that’s great for both the office and for partying, consider getting one of these look alikes!

Out of all these shoes, my favourite ones are the simple black and nude heels. Why you may ask? It’s because they are the most practical and make your feet look the nicest. I currently own two pair of Gianvito Rossi look alikes (you guessed it, in black and nude), and I find that time and time again I reach for the nude pair more than any other pair in my wardrobe.
The nude color not only goes with everything in your wardrobe, it also elongates your legs in an incredible way. Contrary to what you might think, the plexi material actually helps to make the shoe look even more elegant.
The “Comfortable Louboutins”
You could get a pair of heels that had a similar shape without the plexi material from Louboutin, however the shoes are painfully uncomfortable. The fact that the Gianvito Rossi shoes have a plexi lining not only adds a nice touch to the aesthetics of the shoe, it also makes them extra comfortable.
So comfortable in fact that Gianvito Rossi has been called the “creator of comfortable stilettos” by the esteemed Telegraph. The newspaper even goes as far as stating that Rossi’s designs are ‘mathematically balanced, in refined proportions, neither too high nor too pointy’.
While I have my doubts about how much science has actually gone into the design of the shoes, the verdict rings clear – these shoes were made for walking. And with that, hopefully the look alikes were too – after all, they have all the same mathematically balanced portions.
The Rossi Dynasty
While Gianvito Rossi may be a relatively new brand in the fashion industry, the Rossi name certainly isn’t. Gianvito Rossi is the son of Sergio Rossi – one of the preeminent Italian shoe makers from 1966 onwards. According to the Telegraph, Gianvito grew up living upstairs from the family’s shoe factory, inhaling the fresh scent of leather and being very involved in the business his whole life.
The Sergio Rossi brand was sold to Gucci in 2000, and both the son and dad stayed out of the industry for a while. However, shoes were so much in Gianvito’s nature, that he quickly felt the need to get back in the game. And so, Gianvito Rossi was founded in 2007.
It remains to be seen if the father-son tradition will continue in the future and if there will be a third successful footwear brand under the Rossi roof – only time will tell. For now, the Gianvito Rossi brand is thriving and there are no signs that point to the growth slowing down.
What To Look For
Although the design of the shoe is arguably the most important thing when it comes to shopping for designer inspired items, it’s useless to buy a shoe that will just sit in your wardrobe if it doesn’t fit properly.
It might be hard to shop for shoes online as you never know how they will fit before you try them, but there are a few things that you can pay attention to when deciding if the shoe is a right fit for you. Apart from the obvious (i.e. check customer reviews and settle for heels that are a moderate height), there is one thing that I urge you to do.
My number one tip when buying heels no matter if they are expensive or cheap is to look for built in insoles – trust me, these make a world of difference. The way that the insoles support your foot is even superior to the way that removable insoles support feet and the best thing is that you can’t even feel them.
Luckily, all the Gianvito Rossi dupes that I’ve mentioned in this post come with built in insoles – hooray!
